The Sloppy Life of Pixels is a webcomic made using AI image generation. New comics are published on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

I'm Andy, humble proprietor of this very website. Despite a lack of any artistic skill whatsoever, I've decided to defy my genetics and all good sense by creating a comic strip. To compensate for my aforementioned shortcomings, I am leveraging the power of machines.

I understand the pushback people have toward AI art. Amongst its many problems is the fact that any shmo can put out low-quality crap. The name of the comic is acknowledgement of that. However, that doesn't mean that something valuable can't be produced using such tools. My goal is to demonstrate that here.

The rules

  1. The art is entirely AI generated. If a draft needs edits, AI makes the edits. I am not touching it up at all (as if I even knew how). Any sloppiness inherent to the image shall be embraced. Celebrated, even.
  2. The prompt is produced entirely by a human mind. Namely, mine. I do not have the language model assist me in crafting a prompt.
  3. If present, any speech or caption is also crafted the old-fashioned way. If it's sloppy, that's Grade A organic slop.
  4. All site copy is written by me with no AI assistance.
  5. The website itself was largely vibe coded, but you probably don't care about that.

In summary, the art is AI, and everything else is 100% me.
