Notes
This is my second fairy tale in a row, but there's no real reason why. Sometimes you just get stuck on a track, I guess. They are fertile ground for humor in that they're pretty well known universally and also inherently ridiculous, so maybe that's why.
People rightfully complain about the uncanny valley with computer generated images. I think that mostly applies to good looking things. When you're viewing something ugly, your brain gives you a lot more leeway into what it'll allow, because ugly things defy natural expectations. That may be why I like comics with such creatures. But more than that, the model can be cruel. It does not hold back on monstrosity. Comics drawn by hand naturally lean into the talents of the artist. I see no reason why comics drawn by machines shouldn't also do the same.
