Notes

I'm publishing this between scheduled comics due to its timeliness. For future readers, yesterday Dr. Fauci appeared in front of a senate committe following the release of his diary that he kept on his government computer. Despite having a blanket pardon issued by Joe Biden, Fauci refused to answer any question, including simple things like, "What color is the rug?" Instead, he read the same prepared statement each time in which he said he was exercising his fifth amendment rights. I watched a few of the videos of Dr. Fauci being questioned and then repeating his statement. I was impressed both by his full reading of the complete sentence, which was probably longer than necessary, as well as the patience of some of the senators to listen to it in its entirety without interrupting. The whole thing was a farce, of course. Fauci has a pardon, so nothing will come of it. The senators knew this, but these kinds of events are good for sound bites so they can go to their voting base and appeal to how hard they went after Fauci. I think Rand Paul is sincere in his desire for Fauci to face repercussions, but is ultimately powerless.

Anyway, it's an old joke, but I thought it'd be funny in this scenario. Those six-year-olds watching are going to be voters in twelve years, Dr. Paul, don't you want to lock them in now?
