Most of my ideas involving children are inspired by my own kids, but this one is autobiographical. I remember expressing similar sentiments to my parents despite having an abundance of toys, games, books, sporting equipment, and access to the nearly the entire aggregation of human knowledge at my fingertips. Though, in fairness to the boy in this comic, most of the really cool stuff happening isn't really something he has ready access to. Still, I do not pity him.

This was one of the easiest images to get right. The first version was mostly what you see here. After that I specified a few more things to add and that was that. Overall what I like about this one is that hand-drawing a comic with the level of detail needed to make the joke would have taken more effort than it ever would have been worth. Thus using machine generation allows me to make a comic that otherwise I would have had to discard or sacrifice visual impact.
