If you search around for web comics, which is not something I ever did before looking into starting my own, you will find that Sturgeon's law applies. And, as is probably true for everything, the number is too low. The art is bad, sure, but I'm not in a position to complain about it (except to say that it's a bit ridiculous that somehow having really bad hand-drawn art is somehow more noble than using a machine to generate it). Worse, to me anyway, is the humor, or lack thereof. Most of the people attempting to make humorous comics don't have even the slightest ability to write a joke. Yet I imagine that in their own minds their wit is undeniable. It is quite a thing.
Anyway, if you get rid of those, and stick to the comics where the humor is at least recognizable as such, then probably the most common type of joke is a simple, not very clever, pun. I recognize that's what I've done here, and I apologize.
